These services can only be accessed through Perform Care, the single point of entry for all children, adolescents and young adults, living in New Jersey, seeking treatment or supportive counseling services. Intensive In-Community Services

This is a short-term, solution focused intervention provided by an independently licensed behavior or mental health clinician to youth and families in their homes or another amenable location within community. The providers primary objective is symptom reduction, skill development and stabilization to improve functioning at home, school and in community. Clinical interventions may include:

  • Psycho-education

  • Conflict resolution

  • Emotional regulation

  • Stress management

  • Cognitive Behavior Techniques

  • Problem Solving

Behavioral Assistance

This is a short-term, positive behavioral support intervention provided, by a certified paraprofessional, under the direct supervision of an independently licensed behavior or mental health clinician, to youth and families in their homes or another amenable location within community. The providers primary objective is symptom reduction, skill development and stabilization to improve functioning at home, school and in community. Behavioral interventions may include instruction and practice of:

  • Role play

  • Interpersonal skills 

  • Communication skills

  • Recreation and leisure

  • Time management

                 

Bio-Psycho-Social Evaluations

Evaluation is a process that clinically examines an individuals functioning in multiple life domains. It involves collecting and analyzing information about an individuals family and personal history, current functioning & barriers, and desired goals & outcomes. Its purpose is to make a clinical determination about a persons presenting problem, severity of need and to inform decisions regarding an appropriate level of service intervention to improve emotional, behavioral and mental health. Benefits of an evaluation include:

  • Better understand problem areas and needs

  • Design achievable goals and objectives

  • Measure and monitor progress

  • Increase functioning, health and well-being

Youth Groups

Groups and activities are designed to meet the need of the general adolescent population; including dedicated to address specific areas and issues as they relate to male and female life experiences. The objective of all youth development services is to help youth learn effective emotional, cognitive and behavioral coping skills that will improve parent-child relationships, peer selection processes, community functioning and overall health and wellness.

 

An 8 week counseling group will assist boys and girls ages 10-19 years old, in learning and developing social skills, life skills, self-awareness, self- concept, self-control, decision making strategies and other personal development skills via the following topics: 

 

Bullying

Peer relations 

Male/Female relations

Alcohol/substance use

Social media

Socio-cultural issues

Trauma
